Sipping my morning coffee, thinking about my own “Beloved Beast … My Bestest Cheerleader, wondering to myself; How many other Network Marketing ladies have their husbands as their Biggest Cheerleader? & what to do when “Your Hubby’s Not Into Your Biz?!” Unsupportive?
Because to be honest, Bob was a mega skeptic and often would talk about ” a real job ” … I know he TOTALLY gets that this “Social Retail” Marketing is a Real Job now, I thought I would share a few ideas on how to help get your partners head wrapped around Network Marketing as the Real Deal that it is …
What do you do when your husband is unsupportive, not on board with you?
What happens when he is worried or even threatened about you signing up for a network marketing business?.. He’s NOT happy or excited at all.. What do you do?!
I have some ideas I want to share with you! I went through some of these feelings and conversations with my husband when I got started in my last business… You might remember I’m a big lover of online Social Retail. I’ve been with my company for almost four years and have an amazing tribe and sisterhood all over the world. But because this was my fourth business venture my husband was getting kind of weary of this whole thing… “Here comes Roxanne in yet another Network Marketing company!… She’s tried this before”. So I had to explain a few things to him that I want to share with you so you can get to the Sunny Side of Life as well!
There’s a lot of amazing benefits of network marketing (the culture, education, sisterhood, etc). You need your spouse to know about your vision. Why are you doing this? Sometimes our partners can feel threatened that this will take you away from the family. All of a sudden your time is diverted someplace else, away from him. Being unsupportive can also be because they love us and they worry! So we have to make sure they understand your Why. What lights your fire? What do you want your home-based business to do for you? For your family, for your friends? They need to understand this.
Do you love your life like I do?
I’m always open to connecting with uplifted & sunshiney hearted women – those who love life and enjoy helping others succeed! And if you’re not completely in love with your life, that’s even more of a reason to connect so I can help guide you to the Sunny Side of Life.
Text “love” to 236-700-0686 or send me a message on Facebook.
Keep your promises, if you ask him for a quiet 10 min for a follow up chat or 30 min team call, keep your word. Your promise to him is important if not more than to a chatty client ect.
Disconnect to reconnect. Make sure that you are purposely and with intent planning an amazingly, love-filled evening with him. A date night or date activity that you both will love. No phones and no interruptions allowed. Make that special time for him so he’s not feeling left out.
Put the phones down. Leave it at home. For walks, date nights, movie time. Put it on silent. No ding ding distractions, no beep beep of interruptions. How many conversations started, stopped and ideas forgotten over your digital device notifications & interruptions? To many to count likely?
If you desire his support, his cheering from “unsupportive” you desire his help;
Ask him for his contribution in ways that you know he can, and then say “Thank You” when he gives his two cents. Use his outside perspectives, perceptions as learnings to leverage. I know my Beast can’t tell the difference when I am scrolling on my phone or working on my phone … Tell your guy what you do and why, and your expected desired results when you are “online”.
Tell him and show him what is going on in your business, your goals, your plans, include him, so he can cheer you on! Show him what you need to do / achieve to Rank up or hit the next leader boards or make that Company Trip to Los Cabos! (Btw, Bob said “Get to work woman” about Los Cabos Haha!)
When was the last time you talked to your hubby, had him sit beside you when you opened up your back office, or explained what you do and why? To help shift him from being unsupportive, show him your plan. If you are a smart, dedicated businesswoman then he needs to know the plan. He needs to know what you’re doing and why. Most spouses can’t tell the difference between you scrolling and laughing about some cat videos or when you’re actually working your business, so show him your plan! Write it out on a piece of paper.
Many men are detail-oriented & want to know what are your end-result ideas & goals.
Yesterday we poured into our team for almost a hour training call. ( So blessed! ) I had my phone on speaker the whole time, so Beast could listen in. The more he understands, the more he can support, cheer and celebrate not just my team but OUR team. Ask for his help whenever you can. Let him see, invite him to see a SHORT company opportunity video, ask his opinion and thoughts …I ask my husband to read my blogs before I publish them and he’ll give his opinion as an outside eye. He used to do a lot of written word work so he helps improve my work & efforts all the time! Your spouse will love to help! So let him participate. Use his innate skills and strengths as your own. My Beast is great at speed reading a post idea, a canva image ect, often catching grammar & spelling errors!
He knows my weaknesses, why would I not let him HELP me?
He is my silent but not so silent partner. I smiled at his wee side glances at certain statement raised. Bring your guy to your insiders club! If you have done any type of personality training you should know what type of personality your husband has. Does he want to help other people, is he red and strong? Or blue and outgoing? When you can, plug him into exposures of your business in the field of his personality of what he loves and craves.
For instance, if he’s a blue personality, make sure that you play on your speakers one of your team calls when it’s going to be fun! If he is a green personality, invite him to listen to the compensation plan. Immerse him in your world!
Tell him WHY he should never close out the 14+ tabs open on your computer, no matter how much the fan is running so fast it sounds like a airplane about to take off. Ever. (haha!!)
Have a BIG win? A small success? A long anticipated achievement? Appreciate him and show it! Brag about him, show him off! Take him out for date night on YOU!

Last Ideas .. Tuff Love Tip for you,
If you’ve been around the block a while, and your husband has heard it all before, resistant, unsupportive and you’re getting some eye-rolls from him then just do it. Don’t talk about it, just “Do The Do”. Sometimes you have to prove to them (& yourself) that you can do it. Make your magic happen, get tenacious, get creative, FIND the way to make those results happen, celebrate them, amplify them, and shout them out on Social Media. If your husband’s on those platforms he will notice them. Be joyful as “seeing is believing” for all your “non cheerleaders” in your world.
When you absolutely adore someone (or something) it shows.
You can’t help but talk about it - and let me tell you, I adore the tribe & marketing plan in the company I’m running with (High trending products help too!).
I invite you to check out WHY I said “YES, Please!” after taking a 2 year break from MLM's & after almost 4 years later STILL has me bouncing out of bed & giving my growing team great joy every.single.day at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0KRIG_3BUk
Of course, if you’re an action taker like me, just text “Start” to 236-700-0686 & we can start a conversation to see if Social Retailing is a great fit for you.
I really had much fun with this blog, I hope you enjoyed discovering tips & solutions to shift forward from “Your Hubby’s NOT Into Your Biz?! & Unsupportive?!!” .. Of course, if you found some value you are welcome to share this forward to a friend or co-worker in need! & Yes please, Do share your own insights & thoughts!
See you on The Sunny Side of Life!
P.S. People often ask me; Roxanne I can see you LOVE being a “Cheerleader” in all women’s lives; BUT what is it you really do? To answer that, I use social media platforms to market trendy highly consumable products that YOU shop for every week! Most women don’t go far without their phones & do A LOT of online shopping so I help empower, support & teach women who “want a bit more in life” do the same. More Sisterhood. More Tribe. More Fun. More income within Social Retail ..
